Safety

Sailing, compared to most sports, is extremely safe particularly in harbours but nonetheless we take every precaution to ensure not just the safety but also the comfort of everyone we take or send sailing.

Buoyancy Aids
All instructors, assistants and students must wear a buoyancy aid at all times. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. We have plenty of these in all sizes and there is no extra charge.

Staying Warm
The cold is our enemy that sailors will resist at all times! For an enjoyable experience it is important to stay warm as much as possible and to keep yourself hydrated. Wearing a wetsuit is an ideal way to stay warm. We can also supply wet gear if you need it at no extra charge.

Safety Boat
For your safety and comfort we also have a number of rigid inflatable motor boats that are on the water at all times when any of our sailing boats are on the water. This is used for distributing bottled water (sailing is thirsty work!) or moving students and instructors around. Instructors and boat drivers also carry VHF radios.

Notify Us of Any Health Issues
If you are taking medication or have a medical condition please inform us when you book your sailing trip or lesson.

Have Fun!
If you’re not enjoying yourself then neither are we. We want to you to have as much fun as possible while you hone your sailing skills and let your instructors know if you have any concerns before, during or after your sail. Talking about your experience with other sailors and instructors after you come off the water is hugely beneficial and we always head for some warm seafood chowder, soup or something a little stronger in Monkstown after a session on the water. Sailing is one of the most sociable sports around.
